Product Overview
Industrial metal dust collector is a dedusting system designed for centralized ducting across multiple metalworking stations with large total air volume. Metalworking dust typically has fine particle size, abrasiveness, and possible oil mist content. The equipment consists of suction hood, branch duct, main duct, filter unit, fan, and dust collection device. Dust is captured locally at each generating station and transported through the ducting network to the filter unit; clean gas is discharged or returned to the workshop. The system is designed for multi-station centralized dedusting, not for portable single-point operation.

System Design & Duct Engineering
• System air volume distribution: total air volume is divided among stations according to hood capture velocity and simultaneous operation factor. Branch duct diameter is calculated from each station's air volume and required duct velocity.
• Duct velocity calculation: duct velocity is selected according to metal dust particle size and concentration. For aluminum and magnesium dust, duct velocity should be kept above 20 m/s to avoid deposition.
• Branch duct design: branch ducts are connected to the main duct at an angle that reduces system resistance. Elbow quantity and bending radius are controlled to reduce pressure loss.
• System resistance: total system resistance includes hood, branch duct, main duct, filter unit, and outlet. Fan pressure is selected to cover total system resistance with a margin.
• Cleaning control: pulse jet cleaning sequence is set according to filter unit compartments and dust concentration. Cleaning interval can be adjusted based on pressure drop.
• Multi-station operation: if only part of the stations operate at the same time, a simultaneous operation factor can be applied to reduce total system air volume and fan power.
• For single-station or local area dedusting with short duct connection, a metalworking dust collector can be compared.

FAQ
Q: How is system air volume distributed among multiple stations?
A: Total air volume is divided according to hood capture velocity and simultaneous operation factor. Each station's air volume determines its branch duct diameter. If not all stations operate at the same time, a simultaneous operation factor can be applied to reduce total system air volume and fan power.
Q: How is duct velocity determined for metal dust?
A: Duct velocity is selected according to metal dust particle size and concentration. For aluminum and magnesium dust, duct velocity should be kept above 20 m/s to avoid deposition. For general metal dust, duct velocity is calculated to keep dust suspended without excessive duct wear.
