Wet Scrubbing Systems

The Wet Scrubbing Systems are our wet purification units for gases. They use liquid to contact the gas stream. The pollutants are transferred to the liquid phase. This can be physical absorption or chemical reaction. These units handle soluble VOCs, acid gases, alkaline gases, and dust. They are one of the most flexible gas treatment technologies. Our Wet Scrubbing Systems use a packed tower design. The tower is filled with Pall rings or Raschig rings. The scrubbing liquid sprays down from the top. Gas flows up from the bottom. The two streams mix in the packing layer. This provides excellent mass transfer.

Our Wet Scrubbing Systems use corrosion-resistant materials. The housing can be PP, FRP, or 304/316 stainless steel. The choice depends on the corrosiveness of the gas. The water tank is at the bottom. The scrubbing liquid is recirculated. You only need to add small amounts of water to make up for evaporation and loss. For a chemical plant in Shandong, we designed a two-stage system. The first stage used caustic scrubbing for acid gas. The second stage used water scrubbing for residual alkali and particles. The overall removal rate was over 96%. The water recirculation rate was over 95%. Daily make-up water was only about 2 tons. The system runs below 75 decibels. Maintenance is minimal. The spray nozzles are clog-resistant. They only need inspection once or twice a year.

The Wet Scrubbing Systems are designed based on your airflow and pollutant type. Tower diameter ranges from 0.5 to 4 meters. Tower height is based on the number of packing layers. Single-layer packing removes 60-80% of pollutants. Double or triple layers give higher removal. The spray nozzle type and count are optimized for each tower. The circulation pump is sized for the flow rate. We can add an automatic chemical dosing system. This keeps the pH and chemical concentration stable without manual intervention.
